Agilus is currently seeking a Senior Project Controls Specialist for our client based in Calgary.

Job Overview

Reporting to Manager Project Controls, you will be providing project controls service consulting with project team members on the project. With your experience and knowledge of project controls process and tools, you will be providing cost control, change management, planning/scheduling progress and performance analysis, forecasting and reporting with focus on timeliness and accuracy.



  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve all aspects of project Planning/Scheduling and Cost Control for the successful PC service on assigned project(s).
  • Develop and maintain WBS, work packages, control accounts and the cost breakdown structure for assigned project.
  • Producing effective scheduling reports, cost reports, incurred cost flow reports and forecast for the project.
  • Lead reviews, analyzes and evaluates schedule management involving the critical path method of scheduling techniques, estimating change notices, project incurred/actual costs management, change management process (scope changes, non-scope changes and potential changes), with impact on project forecast (estimate at completion, forecast at completion).
  • Supporting onboarding and continuous stewardship of Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors to the company’s project controls requirements for early compliance to the contractual controls obligations and standards.
  • Provides project progress and performance earned value (EV) verification, compares planned, forecast and actual hours, key quantity installed and trend in the field, cost control and explains variances.
  • Identifying future potential cost/schedule forecast through data-analytics and make a judgment regarding its impacts.
  • Coordinates the preparation, consolidation and analysis of project reports assuming responsibility for its overall accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
  • Collaborates with functional counterparts such as PC Estimating, Regional Development, Construction, Supply Chain, Finance, and Project Governance to achieve project goals.
  • Working with contractors and functional counterparts on month-end reporting schedule and cost variance analysis, project performance metrics, and stewardship process per required timelines.


  • Overall 10 years’ experience with 5-7 years of direct project controls experience in the oil and gas sector. A mix of home office and field experience will be considered a strong asset.
  • Project controls experience in cost control, budgeting, project management of change, field progress systems, scheduling and contractor performance management in a major projects environment a requirement.
  • Additional experience in cost estimating fundamentals, and risk management an asset
  • Ability to be hands-on in, cost control, planning/scheduling to support critical project needs and meeting tight deliverable deadlines.
  • Good communication and positive teamwork approach with cross-functional partnership and collaboration.
  • Working knowledge of SAP R/3, EcoSys, Primavera 6 v7 or v8, Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
