Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and is responsible for implementation and maintenance of quality standards through testing, inspection of materials and products, audit of existing systems and procedures and continuous involvement in manufacturing process to achieve the company goals of conformance to specifications, customer satisfaction and maximum profitability.  The Quality Assurance Technician is also expected to contribute to a work environment that fosters pride in being a part of a winning team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection of purchased components, in-process audits during manufacturing of products, final inspection of all outgoing products (Aluminum Window, Storefront Materials & Unitized Curtain Wall)
  • Perform required performance testing on window wall and curtain wall (AAMA, ASTM, CSA)
  • Assist in creating job specific work instructions and checklists
  • Record and participate in investigation of non-conformances
  • Provide feedback to and work together with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering and Project Management teams to maintain the highest level of quality
  • Participate in continuous improvement and workplace safety efforts
  • Some travel may be required
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Aluminum Window, Storefront Materials & Unitized Curtain Wall industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the quality assurance field
  • Excellent ability to read blueprints, shop and fabrication drawings
  • Must have a strong attention to detail
  • Experience with performance testing of window and curtain wall products is an asset
  • Team player, able to interact with other departments and coach manufacturing personnel
  • Well organized, able to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Customer Service oriented and Lean Manufacturing focused
  • Persuasive, encouraging and motivating
  • Strong ability with Microsoft Office
  • Technology Diploma preferred
  • Quality certification or training preferred
