Position Summary


  • Draws up master / discipline schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet client forecasted master schedule. Updates client through client accepted / sponsored software.
  • Coordinate with staff Engineers and Project teams to sequence activities, assembly, and installation. Research and assign activity times and due dates as needed and document during the releasing process.
  • Responsible for creating detailed project schedules using defined project management software, as well as providing regular reporting on schedule status. The detailed schedules show workflow for each craft and operation according to previously established client sequences and lead times.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report performance in order to schedule activities utilizing information derived from agreed control systems.
  • Assist the engineering team when required to actively manage the schedule.
  • Coordinate with sections as needed to identify and resolve issues regarding delivery.
  • Works with management to organize schedule changes due to backlogs, design changes, and material or labor shortages.
  • Coordinates production plans to ensure precursor items are provided / available according to schedules.
  • Complies with security procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Quality, service, and delivery issues, and take corrective actions as needed to identify and resolve supplier and internal errors that result in schedule discrepancies. Monitor


  • Confers with Client and Company management to determine status of projects.
  • Analyze project information and requests received from staff then effectively communicate the requirements to others.
  • Accurately develop and maintain associated project reports and data for distribution to staff, for customer visits and for management.
  • Distribute drawings and engineering change notices to staff as appropriate.
  • Stay informed of current projects, issues, processes, risks and assumptions.
  • Function as the focal point to move towards a more efficient system of entering engineering releases. The goal is continual improvement of the processes being utilized.


Bachelors Degree in a project or engineering related field with a minimum of two years planning and scheduling experience in a major project environment.

Alternatively, a candidate without a degree but holding at least ten years work experience in a planning and scheduling environment and preferably in a major project environment will be assessed as potentially equivalent experience due to the highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience gained.

Essential Skills

  • Skilled in the use of MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Project and the P6 Scheduling tool.
  • Understanding of business process and functional inter-relationships.
  • A versatile, self starter with a positive attitude, who is cautiously assertive.
  • Ability to modulate within a dynamic workload: from heavy multi-tasking during peak workloads to very focused, detail oriented work during critical projects.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills are required.
  • The ability to produce and track a budget and an understand financial statements create and communicate alignment sheets.
  • Team attitude; eager to cooperate with others with good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
  • Ability to positively motivate individuals and teams to meet or exceed project expectations.
  • High level of commitment to the success of individuals and overall projects.
  • Willing to put in extra effort and hours as needed.
  • Hold or eligible to obtain a Canadian Security Clearance.

Beneficial Skills

Knowledge of Ship Design, Ship Build processes.
