The Human Resources Manager reports to the Senior Director, Human Resources and is responsible for overseeing the HR functions for the Richmond Hill facility. This position serves as a front-line operational support and internal business partner for the Richmond Hill manufacturing site, which includes both manufacturing operations and administration. The Human Resources Manager will carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll processing, full-cycle recruitment for both hourly and salaried positions, onboarding, workforce planning, talent development, change management, employee relations, performance management, health and safety, compensation, employment law and compliance, and HR reporting.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • As a key member of the Plant Steering Committee, provides sound advice and coaching to department managers on all HR related areas that impact the plant
  • Provides advice to hourly leadership team on employee relations issues, including attendance management, conflict management and the progressive discipline process
  • Leadership to the facility on any progressive discipline processes
  • Builds effective relationships with operational departments to understand their business goals and to proactively identify and implement solutions that align with organizational strategies
  • Manages multiple requisitions concurrently and takes accountability for recruitment delivery targets
  • Full-cycle recruitment of all positions for the facility
  • Leads talent management programs, including performance review cycle tracking, individual development plans, and succession planning
  • Coordinates and facilitates onboarding programs, oversight of new hire onboarding, and oversight new employee integration over the probationary period
  • Maintains compensation data for the site; prepares reports for the corporate compensation team to manage the administration of the annual incentive and merit review process
  • Management of all hourly wage scale administration including annual review and adjustment to the hourly wage scale and any ad-hoc changes to the hourly wage scale
  • Identifies opportunities to optimize business processes to create efficiencies for the HR team
  • Participates in plant staff meetings to ensure an integrated business partnership and strong link with strategy and the direction of the business
  • Regular tracking and reporting of key HR related KPIs including turnover, open positions, labour hours; utilization of Power BI to facilitate tracking of KPIs
  • Critical analysis of HR data for the purpose of identifying trends and preparing HR plans
  • Leads various HR projects for the site as required
  • Accessible to all production shifts
  • Site administrator for Alchemy
  • Oversight and leadership for all payroll processing activities
  • Oversight of Kronos time and attendance
  • Oversight of all SAP access request processing for the facility
  • Management of any employment related legal issues with the assistance of internal and external legal counsel
  • Investigation of Code of Ethics complaints
  • Participation in the social committee for the site and coordination of social committee events

EHS specific items:

  • Leadership and coordination of all Safety Council activities
  • Oversight and leadership of all Joint Health and Safety Committee activities
  • Creation and assignment of any site-specific EHS Alchemy training topics, per the corporate EHS calendar
  • Site administrator of the Intelex site
  • Tracking and reporting of all EHS metrics
  • Submission of WSIB Form 7's
  • Oversight of EHS related required training
  • Primary contact for any WSIB related matters
  • Case management of any recordable and/or WSIB incidents in order to mitigate cost and to ensure early and safe return to work

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Thorough knowledge of human resource management
  • Thorough knowledge of full-cycle recruitment process
  • Ability to interpret and administer company policies
  • Strong customer service, relationship building, problem solving and follow-up skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid to Advanced level computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or business related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two to three years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Human Resources certificate preferred or in progress
