Job Description:

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to the following: Position Summary:

  • Responsible for establishing, implementing and directing quality control and food safety efforts to ensure that requirements for processing components and other materials confirm to quality standards
  • Ensure adherence and compliance with Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
  • Suggest and implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase food safety and efficiency of plant departments
  • Interface with other departments and managers to develop and implement food safety programs as required including SOPs and related forms.
  • Conduct food security assessment to evaluate quality assurance compliance in accordance with customer specification
  • Responsible for all glass audits, act as a primary contact for CFIA and weekly CFIA CVS
  • Responsible for leading/assisting Quality Assurance Manager in all food safety investigations/risk assessments and completing all necessary documentation requirements in a timely manner
  • Review HACCP/BRC Verification Reports to ensure food safety compliance and follow-up on corrective actions when quality deviation occurs
  • Work with Quality Manager to reassess current HACCP program, Food Safety Plan and implement changes for continuous improvement as required
  • Conduct annual internal audit with trained internal auditors
  • Participate in external audits and assists in creating and implementing corrective actions
  • Train employees as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have HACCP certification
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or other related science discipline;
  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar role in a food manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of HACCP principles and government regulations in regards to low acid food processing environment
  • Better Process Control School certification is an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing practices
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to conduct training, interact with customers, present findings and represent the company during audits as required
  • Ability to multi-task, detail oriented, analytical, organized.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
