Role Summary

The Director, Corporate Finance reports directly to the Vice-President & Treasurer of Magna International Inc.  The role focuses on aligning the Company’s financing and funding needs, including our bank financing and capital markets programs.  The position includes alignment of Capital Structure, special projects as assigned and the management of other team members supporting the financing and capital markets requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•    Oversee the development, execution and monitoring of the Capital Structure & NCIB strategy objectives alongside senior management
•    Understand debt capital markets, track developments, monitor market conditions and changes and link to our capital structure objectives and business plans
•    Work closely with the funding and cash management team towards targets for funding requirements and ensure funding alignment with our capital market activities and bank financing arrangements
•    Coordinate and oversee Debt Capital Market activities including preparation for bond issuances and maintenance of commercial paper programs
•    Manage and maintain Rating Agency relationships, including preparation for annual relationship update meetings, Debt Capital Market transaction requirements or other transaction or relationship requirements
•    Oversee the management of our Global syndicated revolving credit facility, amendments, renewal and extensions. This approximately $3 billion facility has several tranches and tenors, with approximately 20 banks
•    Manage our bank group relationships globally including the balancing, allocation of business and ensuring that banks are able to support our needs effectively
•    Oversee and manage various bilateral bank financing facilities globally including various bank revolver, overdraft type swing lines and letter of credit facilities and evaluate supplier finance initiatives
•    Manage Treasury due diligence processes on acquisitions and divestitures

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Knowledge and Education
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance
•    Master’s level or professional designation is recommended
•    Strong knowledge of financial markets
•    Experience managing people
•    Strong knowledge of banking processes, structures and systems

Work Experience
•    Minimum of 7 years of treasury experience 
•    Experience with Debt Capital Markets and Financing Agreements

Skills and Competencies
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
•    Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
•    Timely and accurate execution of duties and attention to detail
•    Manage work and team to deliver results
•    Strong project management skills
•    Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple tasks and work flexible hours
•    Strong character, integrity and ethics – the ability to maintain confidentiality

•    Experience with Capital IQ, HFM or Power BI an asset

Work Environment
•    The majority of the job is performed in a standard office environment
•    Travel required from time to time
