PTAG is currently seeking a Structural Engineer. The Structural Engineer should be a registered Professional Engineer, with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, coordinating and executing mining infrastructure projects requiring the application of technical knowledge and structural engineering experience.

Location: Vaughan, ON

Type of Employment: Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the planning and creation of drawings and designs involving detailed analysis and design of structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber and building systems.
  • Writes structural specifications, scopes of work, design criteria and design basis.
  • Resolves problems as they relate to structural engineering and creates unique designs and concepts to handle difficult engineering demands and creates design notes of the work.
  • Implements engineering analysis and design of structures through the above described processes and criteria.
  • Participates in structural audits, evaluates condition of existing structures, and assesses requirements for repair and rehabilitation.
  • Evaluates risk and compliance with regulations and standards prior to engineering work being issued.
  • Participates in the selection of vendors (materials and equipment suppliers), review and approve shop drawings.
  • Provides markups to designers, and issues stamped drawings.

Requirements:

  • P. Eng. designation in Ontario or Canada
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in progressively responsible engineering roles on North American engineering projects.
  • Experience and/or familiarity with AutoCAD design software including Autodesk Structural Analysis or similar.
  • Knowledge and experience with North America's design codes and standards. Eurocodes knowledge is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exposure to underground mining and/or shaft sinking experience is considered an asset.
