Job Description

Agilus is looking for a Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng) for a contract position for our client at site in Fort Saskatchewan.

Primary accountabilities for the role:

Business Planning

  • Contribute to the development, delivery and optimization of a Plant Engineering business plan, aligned with the Asset Management strategy, for a 3-12 month period.
  • Provide engineering design to projects that are aligned with the Plant Engineering business plan, following the applicable Plant Engineering standards and procedures.
  • Provide support to specialist engineering functions and collaborate to provide engineering solutions that benefit the Fort Site operations.
  • Deliver work in accordance with Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) as required by APEGA.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (including asset management, operations, and maintenance), to develop effective project solutions that are aligned with the Fort Site business plan.
  • Follow the Plant Engineering program to ensure that policies, standards, practices, and procedures are adhered to.
  • Clearly document and effectively communicate to the required cross-functional teams, as per established procedures.

Operational Excellence

  • Utilize new introduced technologies to improve Plant Engineering services.
  • Implement best practices, culture of continuous improvement, lean thinking, and technical innovation at the Fort Site.
  • Identify/investigate/recommend areas within the Fort Site that can be improved with lean thinking and continuous improvement.


Mechanical Engineering

  • Validate the project scope by applying mechanical engineering principles to identify the problem to be solved by the project.
  • Apply engineering design and problem-solving principles to complete the mechanical engineering design of projects, ensuring schedule, quality, cost and objective are achieved.
  • Contribute to the design of multi-disciplinary projects to assure fit-for-purpose construction, and with complete and accurate documentation.
