Job Description

Agilus is currently seeking a Project Engineer for our client based in Calgary.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Management of engineering, procurement and construction activities.
  • Ensure activities are carried out in compliance with codes, specifications, engineering drawings and documents and in accordance with schedule and budgets.
  • Provide engineering support to the Technical Services and Canadian and US Operations Teams.
  • Ensures that facilities are constructed and maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate specifications and operating practices.
  • Consult with appropriate team members and stakeholders to establish practical and mutually agreed upon design criteria and facility performance.
  • Educate team members and contractors on regulatory and permit requirements.
  • Manage and report on design & performance variances.
  • Manage consultants and contractors, and direct project team members in a manner that results in projects incurring reasonable costs.
  • Development and monitor project execution budgets and schedules, validate any deviations to plan.
  • Monitor procurement/expediting of materials and equipment.
  • Provide technical consultation to team members as required, supporting ongoing operations.
  • Meet with operations representatives on a periodic basis to better understand their support requirements.
  • Provide cost estimates for project development screening activities.
  • Development of Design Basis Memorandums, provide technical input into development concepts.
  • Manage engineering studies to determine project costs, schedules and execution strategies.
  • Ensure construction contracts reflect Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental programs, including performance measurement indicators.
  • Ensure that workplace inspections are done on a regular basis in order to monitor contractor safety performance on the job in accordance with the approved safety manual.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree in an applicable discipline, professional engineering designation and eligible for registration in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience, in one or more of the following areas; pipeline, gas processing and drilling activities including directly related experience in design, construction and project management.
  • Familiarity with labor, safety and environmental regulations and a working knowledge of both Canadian and U.S. codes and standards for pipelines.
  • Team orientation with demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision in a challenging/matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, decision-making and negotiating skills as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Motivated, innovative and capable of handling several assignments, managing a diverse range of stakeholders/contractors, and prioritize demands and workload are key competencies.
