Responsibilities/Qualification

Junior Marine Draftsman/Designer (Associate Level) able to produce drawings for ships, vessels, and boats.  Assist with producing functional and detail design hull (outfitting, joiner work and space arrangements) and steel outfitting drawings. Assist with producing piping and auxiliary system functional and detail design drawings. Develop 3D Product Models for new construction projects.

Assisting in efforts of turning specifications, sketches, requirements, etc., into end state functional and detail drawings. Review drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

Education and Experience

Associate's degree, or technical training in a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and at least 2 years related experience

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
 

  • Junior Marine Draftsman/Technician (Associate Level) familiar with research ship, commercial vessel design or Coast Guard or Naval vessels. Must have at least 2 years drafting/design experience in areas of structural detail design, structural steel outfitting design, joiner outfitting and interior space arrangements. Experience with piping design is a plus. Should have at least 1 year drafting/design experience in the marine environment.  Prefer experience with commercial vessel or Coast Guard or Naval type vessels. Must be proficient in the use of AutoCad and Ship Constructor.  Other CAD tools will be considered as an asset. Must be able to produce 3D models using a suitable tool such as Ship Constructor, SolidWorks or Tribon.
  • Experience producing functional and detail design hull (outfitting, joiner work and space arrangements) and steel outfitting drawings. Produce piping and auxiliary system functional and detail design drawings.
  • Ability to turn specifications, sketches, requirements, etc., into end state functional and detail drawings. Review drawings to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
