Open position:

Based in our downtown Montreal office, the successful candidate will work closely with our academic and industrial collaborators to design, develop and improve custom MEMS optical chips and devices leading to enhanced micro fabrication processes.  The candidate will mainly work in our lab and within the University fabs in the Montreal region.

Assignments:

The applicant will be responsible to design, simulate, fabricate, and test novel integrated optical devices (e.g. optical filters) to improve and increase the functionality of the MEMS platform.

The applicant will prepare the computer aided design (CAD) files required to implement the devices and will participate in their fabrication / process flows designs, revision and implementation.

The applicant will work with industrial foundries to plan the transfer to mass production of the developed devices and processes.

Any other task associated with the development of a start-up.

Background

The ideal candidate has a master’s or PhD degree with an experience in design and/or fabrication of MEMS/MOEMS and/or integrated optical devices. The candidate must also be able to work in a team to accelerate process development.

Knowledge of the following will be an asset:

  • ANSYS, SolidWorks, L-edit. Programming language (e.g. Python, Java, C/C++)
  • MEMS fabrication steps: Reactive Ion Etching (RIE), Photolithography, Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD), Low-pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (LPCVD), Sputtering, …
  • Mechanical, optical and electrical material characterization: stress, refractive index, surface profile, conductivity, scanning Electron microscopy (SEM), …

The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. The knowledge of French is an asset.
