We’re currently looking for a Sales Tax Analyst to join our team in Mississauga, ON.

This role will be responsible for supporting the Nissan Canada Incorporated (NCI) Tax Department reporting to the Manager, Corporate Taxation.  The incumbent is responsible for preparing and filing commodity tax returns, preparing account reconciliations and supporting analysis, assisting with commodity tax audits, preparing and filing environmental levies and supporting business partners. 

Job functions Include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare monthly commodity tax, excise tax and tire tax returns, prepare account reconciliations, and record account clearing journal entries for various Canadian entities. Assist with environmental levy compliance reporting and becoming the subject matter expert within the department. 
  • Support Indirect tax audits by CRA and other provincial tax authorities, including drafting responses to audit queries. 
  • Research technical issues and support the business with any indirect tax issues that arise.  This includes maintaining and updating sales tax tables in ERP systems (SAP, Concur, Lemans, Shaw) and performing testing for any system changes. 
  • Review accounts for any recovery opportunities and work with external vendors to verify recoveries. 
  • Assist with the semi-annual/year-end external audit activities as well as the internal audit/JSOX compliance for Indirect tax processes/procedures. 
  • Income tax knowledge an asset. 


Job Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Tax required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Indirect tax experience (automotive/retail industry with captive financing would be an asset)
  • Previous experience and knowledge required in researching answers regarding the application of the Canadian Excise Tax Act and the Provincial Sales Tax Acts.
  • Must have extensive experience and skill in the use of all MS based Office systems with advanced Excel skills.  Previous experience with SAP would be an asset.  
  • Completion of CICA In-depth GST/HST course would be an asset
