Position: Clerk II

Department: Business Development - Connect Care Medical Alert Service and Foot Care and Orthotic Centres

Status: Temporary Part time for approx. 1 year with potential to become permanent status.

Hours: Monday to Friday – Up to 20 hours per week (shifts range from 4-8 hours, generally 2-3 shifts per week)

             Plus up to 15 weeks of full-time vacation coverage. Availability must be flexible to meet the operational needs.

Connect Care Medical Alert Service

State-of-the-art technology allowing individuals to remain living safely and independently at home for as long as possible with the use of a wearable medical alert button. A simple press of a button activates an alarm, and the appropriate assistance is dispatched.

Connect Care is a hospital owned and operated program that has been providing Emergency Response Service for over 28 years. Net proceeds support hospital programs. Trusted and recommended by doctors, healthcare professionals, clients and families.

This is what you’ll be doing:

The Clerk II supports the daily operations of the Connect Care Medical Alert service.  You will be required to continually demonstrate advanced client servicing proficiency and attention to detail working together with the Office Administrator, the full-time Connect Care Clerk, as well as positively contribute to the Business Development department. 

  • Act as the initial contact by phone, or in person in a professional, courteous and caring manner understanding the needs of our unique clientele
  • Visit clients/families in hospital when necessary to promote the program and sign up new clients
  • Prepare documentation and all paperwork to prepare installations for pickup by families & volunteers
  • Complete intake of installations and equipment changes
  • Process payments (cheques, credit cards and pre-authorized) when necessary
  • Back up month end work to support the Office Administrator
  • Monitor daily alarm reports and follow up as necessary
  • Work with a team of program volunteers to schedule installations and equipment changes
  • Assist with promotion of program at community/in-house events as required
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

 

Oakville Hospital Foot Care and Orthotic Centres:

Provide administrative support to the clinic, provide front and back office clerical functions including patient reception and registration, appointment scheduling using podiatry software, product ordering, communication with physicians, staff, patients, suppliers and visitors as well as telephone and online enquiries. Other general office duties as assigned. Past experience in a medical office would be preferred.

  • Office Administration diploma required (equivalent work experience may be considered)
  • Sales experience and experience converting prospects to clients would be an asset
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Self Starter with outstanding organizational, time management and communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to multi task and prioritize work, taking ownership and accountability for results
  • Ability to proactively problem solve and maintain excellent internal and external client relationships
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Excellent knowledge of information technology including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Comfortable with computer software and a quick learner to adapt to software specific to Connect Care  
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with seniors would be an asset
  • Must have own transportation for in-home and community visits when necessary
  • Excellent attendance and performance record required
  • Must be physically able to do the job
