PTAG is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a contract basis, based in our Vaughan office. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for conceptualizing, planning, coordinating and executing parts of the projects requiring the application of developed technical knowledge and mechanical engineering experience.  Directs, guides and reviews work of internal colleagues as appropriate and external engineering service providers.  Provides advice and assistance to a multi-disciplinary workforce. Applies professional seal to design documents developed under the Mechanical Engineer's oversight.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates competence in areas of design under the Mechanical Engineer's authority
  • Oversees the mechanical document checking and design verification in accordance to company and project procedures.
  • Evaluates and reviews all documentation and deliverables such as mechanical calculations, drawings, etc. including equipment vendor deliverables
  • Assesses the conceptual equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings.
  • Interfaces with all other engineering team members and vendors to support projects. 
  • Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC.
  • Provides input to non-engineering functions in the development and maintenance of project plans (ex. Schedule development).
  • Reviews installation of mechanical systems at the project site (including underground) and provides guidance to construction/mining crews to ensure installation in accordance with design intent.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.).

  • 1 0 - 15 years of experience as a licensed engineer with 5+ years in underground mining projects.

  • Some experience in material handling would be an asset.

  • Strong understanding of Engineering standards, regulations and guidelines.

  • Experience working directly in or with designers in a 3D model environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
