Our world renowned client having a office in the heart of Toronto is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team of engineers and consultants. Our client provides engineering, design, planning, project management and consulting services for all aspects of the built environment.  As a successful candidate, your responsibilities will include assisting with various aspects on commercial building projects including but not limited to: 

  • Design mechanical systems including: heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation and controls.
  • Familiarity with codes, specifically OBC, NBC, NECB, ASHRAE standards 55, 62.1, 90.1
  • Experience with sustainable, Low Carbon and innovative strategies on projects
  • Familiarity with energy modeling and computer modeling related to building physics including airflow studies (CFD), thermal analysis, etc.
  • Preparing contract drawings detailing the system designed.
  • Performing system design calculations.
  • Selecting equipment for use in building systems.
  • Report writing.
  • Coordinating work with engineers of other disciplines.
  • Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.
  • Promoting learning from successes and problems within the team and across the firm
  • Understanding of passive design systems that influence mechanical requirements
  • Assisting with managing multi-disciplinary project teams including client relations and team motivation.
  • Assisting in the procurement of work and business development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the built environment
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals
  • Deep experience in project delivery
  • Professional Engineer Licensed in Canada, or ability to obtain a license within 12 months
  • LEED Accreditation an asset
  • Experience with projects rated LEED Gold or better
  • Collaborative, helpful, “can-do”, and Client focused attitude
  • Understanding of BIM and Revit MEP
  • Experience in the application of Canadian Building Codes and Standards.
