Classification: VP/Director of Finance

Compensation: $110,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year

Our client in the downtown core is looking to fill a Director of Finance role on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Finance will perform a wide range of duties which include the following:

Financial accounting and reporting *Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) *Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures *Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Non Profit Status, Withholding Payments (CPP, EI), Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Employer Health Tax *Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the Finance- Audit Committee and the external auditors as necessary *Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions *Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and approve petty cash expenses *Reconcile bank (when required) and investment accounts *Review monthly/quarterly results and implement variance reporting *Manage the cash flow for all funds *Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable *Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate *Liaise Audit-Finance Committee as appropriate *Assist the Executive Director with financial reporting as required for Council meetings, AGM and Semi-Annual Meetings

Payroll preparation and administration *Responsible for all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner *Negotiate and manage the employee insurance and group benefits plans *Review reconcile annual T4s

Budget preparation *Prepare the annual budget in consultation with the CEO and the Audit-Finance Committee *Assist Program Directors with the preparation of their budgets

Project management accounting *Maintain financial records for each project in a manner that facilitates management reports *Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projects Information technology *Evaluate the need for new technology to meet the organization's financial data processing, control, and reporting requirements *Advise on appropriate technology that meets the organization's information requirements and financial resources

Risk management *Ensure sufficient insurance coverage for the organization are met and reviewed annually *Minimized costs where possible and appropriate with suppliers *Negotiate with Bank for operating lines of credit or other financial services as required and appropriate

Office administration *Oversee and supervise the administrative function of the organization including reception, facility management, safety of the work environment, and provision of furnishings and equipment necessary for effective operations *Oversee the management of lease, contracts and other financial commitments.

Job Requirements

The successful Finance Director candidate will have:

*CA/CPA designation required; *7+ years of directly related experience ideally in a Not-for-profit organization. *Excellent strategic, analytical and abstract reasoning skills; *Previous experience dealing with a Board of Directors and Audit Committee *Experience in strategic planning and execution. *Strong systems experience
