As a Development Manager on Tulip's Platform Engineering team, you will lead a small team that is responsible for design and implementation of the tools that will enable internal and external developers to create powerful applications for the mobile workforce. We value building consistent, usable,  forward-looking, maintainable software.

As a software development manager, you will be leading a team of backend and mobile developers, help them design and architect solutions for multiple areas of our platform, gather requirements and manage the development effort through the length of the projects.

What you'll do:

    • Coach and motivate team members to their optimum performance levels
    • Collaborate with other software teams, product management and quality assurance to scope and plan engineering efforts and dependencies
    • Provide technical leadership to our platform team
    • Along with product management, plan releases, track velocity and quality and identify areas for improvement
    • Guide the team to execute on team and personal goals
    • Manage and execute project plans and delivery commitmentsImplement process effectively within a team and guide individuals and leads on following them

What you'll need:

    • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years experience building high volume, scalable systems with 2+ years of managing software engineering teams
    • Experience in leading a team using Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, and scrum management
    • Experience in delivering SaaS applications for the cloud
    • Expertise in designing web APIs and a solid understanding of REST principles
    • Excellent knowledge of software architecture and design patterns
    • Experience with common web technologies, such as MySQL, Nginx, Apache, Redis, Solr, PHP, Golang, JavaScript
    • Thoughtful problem solver who can simplify complex processes
