This reputable company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half Finance who has a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department. To succeed in this role, you will need to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This role's duties will require leading with integrity and reliability and having the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in the Guelph, Ontario region. How you will make an impact - Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies - Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation - Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties - Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed - Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time - Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations - Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis - Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management - Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll - Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports - Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Job Requirements
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills - Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field - Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued - Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines - Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity - Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds - Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems - CPA required - Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement - Knowledge of financial reporting - Month end closings experience desired - Strong familiarity with management reporting - 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred - Strong communication and interpersonal skills
