Summary

Technical Illustrators prepare detailed drawings to assist others in comprehending complex technical information. Their illustrations are used in textbooks, reference books, instruction manuals and technical sales brochures.

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Prepares and edits graphic designs and layouts using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Composer and Photoshop;
  • Liaises with Project Managers regarding graphic requirements
  • Communicates with Engineers and Project Managers to gain a better understanding of the product and its requirements
  • Interprets briefing provided in text format by Client, Project Managers, Sales or Creative and creates 2D and/or 3D Illustration ideas
  • Uses drawing, sketching, or photographic skills and, increasingly, computer packages, to create and produce illustrations
  • Consults with Engineers and Project managers, seeking approval at all stages of development and making any changes as required, until gaining final approval
  • Prepares Instruction Sheets and Manuals for point of purchase retail use using programs such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
  • Performs all of the above responsibilities in accordance with Company Safety, Quality, and Production Standards
  • Accountable to follow all policies and procedures defined in the company quality system
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives
  • Reports to work on time, and follows the call in procedure
  • Reports any Health and Safety issues to the department manager immediately
  • Daily routine housekeeping of work area
  • Conducts all work duties as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, the health, safety & environmental policies, procedures, and policies of Array Canada
  • Performs any other reasonable assignments given by the Department Management or his/her designates Including the above, other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to conceptualize 3-D images in a 2-D landscape
  • Adobe Illustrator and SolidWorks skills are must
  • Industrial Designer skill is added advantage
  • Advances skills working in a MAC based environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to cope with high pressure demands
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must possess strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to manage several projects at a time
  • Must possess initiative and self-motivation
  • Must be able to conceptualize how things go together
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering planograms
  • Precise, accurate and clear presentation skills
  • A strong understanding and interest in manufacturing processes and technology.
