Design Group Staffing Oakville is currently recruiting for a Distribution Engineer for our client a Utility Consultant located in the Oakville, ON area.  This is a permanent opportunity. 

The Distribution Engineer is accountable for planning, engineering design and expansion of the distribution system, addition of new services and supervision of employees.  This person is also accountable to provide technical expertise and resolve any problems for existing and new customers within and outside the company.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all work is completed according to applicable design standards and within safety rules and regulations.
  • Provide input into the Distribution Plan.
  • Provide technical advice on all issues related to electrical distribution.
  • Manage design and estimating for new residential, commercial & industrial services.
  • Manage the FIT/MicroFIT/Net Metering/Embedded Generation projects.
  • Manage the Electric Vehicle/Charging Infrastructure programs.
  • Material specifications, review and approval.
  • Prepare capital budget proposals/cost estimates.
  • Approval/design of new hydro installations.
  • Coordination with outside agencies/customers.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, modernize and refine distribution system and equipment.
  • Keep current with technological changes through attending courses, seminars and conferences.
  • Ensure PEO Code of Conduct and engineering principles are upheld within the business unit.
  • Supervise and manage staff, consultants and contractors.  

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree
  • 3 – 5 years Electrical Engineering experience in a distribution utility environment.
  • Ontario specific utility experience.
  • Background in electrical distribution services.
  • Background in overhead & underground electrical distribution design and construction.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer, with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Knowledge of utility construction practices and equipment.
  • Intermediate user of AutoCAD and SPIDAcalc
  • Project management skills with the capability of managing multiple project at the same time.
  • Thorough understanding and demonstrated interpretation and application of CSA C22.3 No.1 Overhead Systems, CSA C22.3 No.7 Underground Systems and Ontario Regulation 22/04.
