As an expert in data privacy this professional Director level associate will fill the gap left between policy and implementation and ensure that privacy considerations are integrated into product and service design. The role will also be responsible for increasing Innomar’s data strategy team in technical knowledge, helping our developers understand the “why” behind privacy requirements, and ensuring that everyone considers user experience that will lead to better products and services from a consumer perspective. You will be part of a team that is operating with cutting edge thinking in the future of privacy and data management. You will be responsible for working effectively with stakeholders to design, develop, implement, communicate and maintain the next generation of privacy policies and accountability frameworks at Innomar. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement solutions to ensure privacy and data policies are correctly implemented. The implementations should advance compliance with legal forms of data use as well as support business use of data.
  • Collaborate with data product development teams creating new uses of data that employ privacy features.
  • Assist with business and practice development efforts, proposals, marketing material, internal and external presentations, Client presentations and/or white paper development.
  • Work to align advanced technologies and Privacy by Design principles from the first stages of development and ensure that the data use meets established regulatory compliance needs. 
  • Interact and collaborate with internal privacy program managers, product development teams, legal, compliance, governance and data protection teams. 
  • Design and assist with delivering change leadership, training, communication and organizational awareness projects associated with the effective management of information as an organizational asset.
  • Be responsible for assisting with the management of the data privacy, data protection, data usability, performance and the integrity of privacy solutions.
  • Use data anonymization, pseudonimization and encryption to assist in developing systems that preserve and improve privacy protections.
  • Interface with IT, Business Intelligence and Legal to assist in the development of solutions that enable the business to be data driven while protecting the data assets. 
  • Interface with IT/Development/Usability teams to ensure user-facing privacy controls are usable.
  • Identify areas of improvement in local practices relative to managing data and data privacy.
  • Facilitate regular privacy assessments of operational processes, identifying, and mitigating risks across the company through effective tools, training and guidance.
  • Communicate program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to key stakeholders.
  • Acts as key interface to data and analytics communities both within and outside of the organization.

  • B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent project or program management experience.
  • 10 years' experience in privacy / data protection or are a certified privacy professional, or have significant formal training in compliance or risk management.
  • Professional accreditation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) is preferred.
  • You are highly knowledgeable in all Canadian federal, provincial and municipal privacy and freedom of information laws, as well as CASL and GDPR.
  • You have familiarity with IT systems and certifications related to data protection and data management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate designs, proposals, and results; and negotiate options at management levels.
  • Excellent judgment with an ability to be both pragmatic/business-oriented and strategic.
  • Proven track record of collaborating and developing strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Comfortable expressing a point of view and influencing change.
  • Confident working in a dynamic environment, partnering with teams to move through the unknown.

  • Data literacy: finding and managing data, cleansing data, manipulating data.
