Design Group Staffing Oakville is currently recruiting for a Risk & Loss Prevention Engineer for our client an oil & gas company located in the St. John’s, NL area.  The duration of this position is estimated to be about 1 year. Oil & Gas and subsea experience is required for this role. The Risk & Loss Prevention Engineer provides overall risk management guidance and leadership for the project team. Develops, maintains and leads the implementation of the Project's Risk Assessment & Management Plan (PRAMP). Ensures that the EPC Contractors' Risk Assessment & Management Plans are developed, implemented and monitored. Stewards risk management findings to closed status and keeps the Technical Manager and Project Manager informed of risk management issues that could potentially jeopardize project objectives.

 

Responsibilities:


•       Interpretation and implementation of company and Industry Standards for:

o   Active and passive fire protection

o   Consequence analysis of process hazards including flammable and toxic dispersion and their effects on people and facilities

o   Fire and gas detection and alarm systems

o   Human Factors requirements

o   Piping isolation philosophies

o   Pressure relief, HIPPS, vapor depressurization/blowdown, and flare systems design

o   Process control and safety instrumented systems (SIL assignment and verification, Cause & Effect, etc.) 

o   Qualitative and quantitate risk assessments

o   Safety case development as required

o   Safety Instruments System (SIL) assignment and verification

o   Spacing and layout requirements, including Human Factors

o   Survival systems, escape, evacuation and rescue philosophies


•       Steward the development and implementation of project wide risk management plans, processes & procedures (e.g., Project specific risk processes & EPC coordination procedures)


•       Oversee execution of contractor risk management systems


•       Coordination of FEED/EPC Contractors to develop and implement of loss prevention objectives


•       Perform and steward risk-related studies


•       Coordinate with Project Team to conduct Risk Assessments, Hazard Identification Studies (HAZID), and HAZOPs.


•       Review risk assessment reports & provide recommendations for revision / update


•       Steward risk action items to closure, including tracking and close-out


•       Maintain risk assessment schedule, monitor implementation of project risk assessment plan, including preparing project status reports


•       Review project documents that affect project risk management, such as project systems, contracts, and contractor risk systems and plans

  

Qualifications:

  • Degree in an engineering
  • 5 + years of direct process safety or design risk management and loss prevention experience in complex multidiscipline project environments or operations environment
  • Oil & Gas and subsea experience Good engineering judgment; ability to recognize, assess, and mitigate hazards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
  • Stronganalytical, technical and communication skills
  • A highly motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attributes; e.g. attention to detail, initiative, highly organized
  • Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally
