Windows Server Upgrade Technician

As a Windows Server Administrator, you will have the opportunity to leverage your experience to develop and support a major server operating system upgrade:

  • Installation, Configuration, and Administration of our Windows based Servers and client/departmental applications as required by both corporate IT and internal project customers.
  • Work directly with users and department heads to plan their individual server upgrades.
  • Communicate with individual users, department heads and senior leadership to assess  support needs post upgrade.
  • Ensuring that systems, procedures, and their corresponding or associated software are operating in accordance and comply with established Corporate security policies, procedures and standards
  • Produce comprehensive design and maintenance documentation and training where required
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, and locally developed monitoring tools

Requirements:

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen and possess an Enhanced Reliability Level Clearance
  • 2 years of experience in Windows Server OS implementation and/or upgrades, specifically Windows Server 08, Windows Server 12, and Windows Server 16.
  • 2 years of experience with SCCM.
  • Windows Server administration experience in a corporate multi-platform, multi-vendor environment.
  • Knowledge of current technologies and software security best practices.
  • A high capacity for learning new technologies.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • General research skills.
  • A team-oriented approach to solving technical problems.
  • Have a solid understanding end experience of the fundamentals of IT security, including secure infrastructure design, as well as experience with security hardening practices such as those defined by the Center for Internet Security (CIS) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST 800-53)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of informally training and interacting positively with end users, department heads and senior leadership.
  • Ability to liaise with numerous departments, members and functional roles.
  • Technical support and general troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in French and English

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidate(s) must be able to obtain and hold security clearance at the Secret level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program
