On behalf of our client in the Banking Sector, PROCOM is looking for a Technical Lead - SQL Server.

Technical Lead - SQL Server – Job Description

  • Take ownership of applications assigned for development and support activity
  • Ensure all SLA's are met for assigned tasks
  • Report over or under allocation to the Group Lead, forecast work remaining, identify and communicate various to plan
  • Support incident and problem management for production environments
  • Technical mentoring of team members
  • Perform database performance tuning
  • Reports on database capabilities in relation to both processing and storage thresholds
  • Works with Enterprise Architecture on the overall strategic database roadmap
  • Oversees database installs, version upgrades, and the application of patches
  • Software Design, Programming, and Unit testing
  • Designing software modifications from supplied requirements and design specifications using agreed standards and tools, achieve well-engineered results that follow the agreed implementations level software architectures.
  • Taking responsibility for the design, coding, testing, and documentation (as defined by the SDLC process) of particularly large, complex, or mission critical software programs.
  • Proposing options and preparing cost estimates to enable the business area to make informed decisions
  • Adhere to all standards, policies, and governance practices.
  • Assume ownership of various initiatives across Technology as agreed with Group Lead for complete and successful delivery.
  • Provide functional expertise within his/her skills to assist delivery team members and foster collaboration within TRMIS
  • Provide issue response and root cause analysis on work assigned by Group Lead and Project Lead
  • Planning, designing, and conducting Unit and System Integration Tests, correcting errors, and res-testing to deliver and error-free product
  • Reacting quickly and as necessary to live software errors and service problems, limiting downtime and resolving the problem during project handover.
  • Report progress, delays, and risks on assigned activities to Project Lead and senior management.
  • Raise awareness when existing code, systems, or processes do not meet current quality expectations and standards.
  • Maintain code and all related artifacts in source control; perform code merges and resolve conflicts and defined by development process, update documentation, and automated tests.
  • Develop system integration test to verify the code running in its functional environment
  • Maintain accurate feature status during development by the agreed upon SLA
  • Review the feature requirements as presented by he Business Analyst and the delivery team, in context of the overall project feature set and existing implantation. Translate requirements to technical concepts
  • Contribute to the logical/physical data models, class diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, and UI prototypes
  • Taking part in reviews of own work and leading reviews of colleagues' work
  • May be given responsibility for supervising, coordinating, participating in the work of other team members
  • Working with Group Lead to make effective use of resources during the various stages of the work to ensure that business objectives are met and deliverables achieved to agreed time, cost and quality.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required and input into performance review of programming staff
  • Establishing mechanisms and procedures for the structured review of work produced and ensuring that these are adhered to
  • Establishing and maintaining agreed standards applicable to the work undertaking and ensuring that these, another mandatory standards and architectures, are adhered to
  • Providing expert guidance and assistance to colleagues in any aspect of software design, creation, testing, and documentation
  • Providing expert advice in some or all aspects o the programming methods, tools, and/or standards
  • Maintaining an expert understanding of software delivery process and of technology developments relevant to own team(s)/software.

Technical Lead - SQL Server – Mandatory Skills

  • ETL developer - 10 years
  • Experience in designing data warehouses - 5 years
  • SQL Server experience - 10 years
  • Strong communications
  • Tech lead - 3 years

Technical Lead - SQL Server – Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience in agile methodology
  • Experience in technology risk data - cyber security
  • Previous Banking or FI experience
