Our Vancouver client is a privately-owned company headquartered in Vancouver that provides high-quality accounting and administrative services to hedge funds, private equity funds, and other investment funds in Canada, the United States and internationally. Our client is current looking to hire a Tax Specialist to join their growing team.


Reporting to the VP Finance, key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the tax filings for a portfolio of clients
- Coordination of the annual reporting process, ensuring the timely preparation, accuracy and completeness of calculations and tax filings for partnerships and trusts
- Preparation and review of distribution calculations for trusts
- Preparation and distribution to investors of relevant tax slips
- Preparation of annual GST SLFI filings for investment limited partnerships and trusts
- Coordinating with the Fund Accounting Teams to ensure appropriate reporting of taxes and tax-related disclosures
- Manage all income tax audits as conducted by various tax authorities
- Ensure all applicable withholding taxes are correctly and timely withheld and the relevant compliance reporting timely filed
- Actively look for areas within the tax function where improved efficiencies, processes and/or cost savings can be achieved
- Other projects as assigned


- CPA Designation
- 3-5 years of directly related experience with increasing levels of responsibility, in a client-facing role
- Completion of CICA In-Depth Tax Courses Levels I and II; completion of Level III an asset
- Solid knowledge and experience in Canadian corporate, partnership and trust income tax
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task in an efficient and controlled manner
- Ability to work independently through complex issues and apply professional judgement
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize a demanding workload
- Effective decision maker
- Self-starter
- Understanding of foreign taxes, specifically the US, an asset
- Private equity and hedge fund accounting experience
