This position will support the Systems Support Manager in ensuring the obligations contained in the various client’s contracts/agreements are met. The Support Engineer is a key member of the Support and Automation Teams with involvement in the entire day-to-day support and project lifecycle of a material handling or parcel handling system. They are responsible for the ongoing support, reliability and analysis, along with development and commissioning of operational, LLC, HLC and IT services, interacting with fellow Engineers, technicians and service managers, operators and non-technical personal to maintain, maximise and enhance reliability and performance on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities: • Fielding and attending to support calls • Selling and managing additional support contracts • Identifying, proposing and selling system improvements, updates and upgrades • Maintaining contact with clients and maintain ongoing relationships • Being a point of contact for upcoming work. • Implement procedures and process to ensure the Support Service operates successfully.    • Implement and monitor reporting and quality control measures  • Ensure all necessary paperwork and/or reports are completed accurately and in the correct format as required • Communicate regularly with local representatives and maintenance providers to ensure that support remains available at contracted sites.  • Review all available data on an ongoing basis to identify favourable/unfavourable trends in regard to the various operations • Continually look for ideas to improve the operation and provide advice and support the Regional Managers to help implement ideas and suggestions Qualifications: • Well-spoken with good communication skills (Essential) • Ability to design/develop/fault-find PLC code (Essential) • STL, FBD and/or Ladder programming knowledge (Essential) • Good understanding of networking ideally using Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet or Asi (Essential) • Previous experience of commissioning and testing in an engineering environment (Essential) • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and panels drawings (Essential) • Use of AutoCAD to read device layouts (Desirable) • Understanding of the link between PLC systems and other IT systems such as SCADA (Desirable) • Knowledge of functional safety programming (Desirable) • Background in Material Handling/Conveyor Industry (Desirable) • Relevant qualification in electrical/mechanical engineering (Desirable)
