Site Safety Officer – Lower Mainland, B.C Permanent position, hourly rate, excellent benefits.

Our client is looking for Site Safety Officer to join their team in the Lower Mainland.The Client has been operating in Canada for over 4 decades. They provide professional expertise in Construction Management, Design-Build, Tilt-up Construction and other areas, with a strong emphasis on client relationships and the provision of high quality and services. They pride themselves on their sustainable practices and environmental awareness, which is at the forefront of every project. Site Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring site compliance with OH&S legislation, as well as promoting the Occupational Health and Safety program. The Site Safety Officers key role is to promote and nurture a mindset of safety on the work-site. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide advice on safety issues in order to ensure compliance with all organisational, client and regulatory requirements.
  • Educate and guide Site Superintendents regularly around health and safety related matters.
  • Training and mentoring of all crews in understanding and implementation of Workplace Health and Safety systems.
  • Carry out regular safety inspections, liaising with the project team to ensure best safe practices are followed.
  • Facilitate and participate in site inspection, taking corrective actions if any safety or non-compliance actions are identified.
  • Regularly update of all documentation and maintenance records, ensuring site employees and sub-contractors are across OHS regulation and legislation.
  • On-going training around, and implementation of safety procedures in line with Occupational Health and Safety programs, and organisational safety rules. 
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial construction or site safety
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA 2)
  • Sound knowledge of construction processes and general site safety
  • General knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
  • Low rise concrete project experience with knowledge of deep excavation (underground parking)
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO)certification is preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience writing and reporting documentation with accuracy
  • Excellent written and oral/interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively to drive positive OHS outcomes
