The Digital Strategy Group is a department connected to every facet of the organization as a strategic partner and catalyst supporting our all-around transformation to a digital-first organization. We are thought-leaders, evolutionary planners, and executors, facilitating the alignment of operational models, digital-focused strategies, and objectives across all functions in the organization. We work with Digital Products; Content Creation Units including Radio, News, and Local Services; Marketing; Media Technology and Sales as well as with our colleagues at Radio-Canada. 

The opportunity

This is a chance to build out Business Intelligence and Predictive Modelling at an organization that’s eager to use data to drive the growth of four of our fastest-growing services, including;, CBC News, CBC Gem, and CBC Listen. You’ve been set up for success, with the technical foundation for your work laid out by our teammates at Radio Canada; your role is to build out the structure, people, and processes as well as provide the thought leadership that will unlock the value of Business Intelligence and Predictive Modelling across the organization. As the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Predictive Modelling, you will leverage data and analytics to better serve the needs of Canadians nation-wide.

As the new Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Predictive Modelling, you will work on a grand scale, with authorship and purpose. Building. As the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Predictive Modelling, you will focus on developing and implementing strategic, data-driven changes to maximize the efficient use of technology by our teams. In this role, you will have ownership over:

  • Business intelligence. You will develop a roadmap to support the growth of CBC’s digital services; managing the quality delivery of all BI programs. You will look to make continuous improvements wherever possible and will proactively assess and communicate volume and performance trends as well as anomalies to necessary stakeholders.
  • Team development. You will find and onboard the people you need to execute your vision for BI at the CBC. You will turn QA into a learning opportunity for your team members; helping them grow and develop professionally. 
  • Cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with business leaders from different teams to understand their performance needs; building predictive and prescriptive models, data visualizations, and advanced dashboards to support internal decision-making. You will be the voice for BI and predictive analytics at Digital Strategy; advocating for their benefits.

What you bring as our new Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Predictive Modelling :

  • The education and experience. You have a master’s degree in Business Analytics, Statistics or a related field. You have 5+ years of experience in BI and predictive analytics and have worked in a team lead or manager capacity for 3+ years. You have successfully planned roadmaps in the past, and have experience with BI and data warehouse technologies. Bilingualism in English and French is a strong asset.
  • The technical expertise. You hold an expert-level knowledge of advanced data mining and statistical, predictive, classification, and Decision Tree techniques. You have hands-on experience processing extremely large data sets and ideally, have database administration experience.  You are familiar with multiple platforms, tools, methodologies in the data management, reporting and advanced analytics such as Tableau, Python, R, Mathematical, Birst; as well as the MS BI Stack including Power View, Power Pivot, and Power Maps.
  • The relationship-building skills. You can nurture strong two-way relationships across multiple diverse teams, peers, and executives. You have a deep understanding of how to inspire and guide the work of digital teams. You are excellent at gathering, analyzing, and prioritizing stakeholder requests. 
  • The corporate savvy. You can navigate and push the boundaries of a national organization. You can adapt your approach to work through the layers of corporate culture effectively. You believe in and build, internal partnerships to solve business problems in the most effective way.
  • The insights and strategy. You are a strategic thinker with the patience to consider all options before jumping into a decision. You are motivated by building robust, reliable processes and solutions that support and empower the teams that make up Digital Strategy. 
  • The intellectual curiosity. You are continuously researching, learning, and innovating; you can influence the teams around you to adapt quickly and to embrace the new while accepting the ambiguous.
