Senior Analyst, Securitization & Funding
Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

Reporting directly to the Director, Funding, the Senior Analyst, Funding is a member of Meridian Credit Union’s Treasury Team.  The Senior Analyst, Funding is responsible for overall funding program management for the credit union.  Inherent in this role is the management of Meridian’s current funding sources including; securitization funding and reinvestment strategy, credit facility management, subsidiary funding and overall collateral management.  In addition, this role will be required to support new funding programs and capital management.  Superior communication skills and the ability to influence are essential for this position.  This is an exceptional opportunity to join Meridian, an organization where you are valued and respected, recognized for your contributions and that is committed to providing a work environment where you are inspired to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide monthly reporting on Meridian’s collateral and funding activity to Senior Management

  • Prepare quarterly regulatory securitization reporting, which entails the calculation of key ratios to ensure compliance with Board risk appetite

  • Conduct quarterly securitization specific stress testing

  • Management and execution of monthly and/or quarterly NHA-MBS/CMB transactions

  • Continually present to Senior Management the cost of funds of Meridian’s current securitization programs, including re-investment costs, compared to other securitization funding options, and other wholesale funding programs

  • Enhancements and maintenance of reinvestment models, which includes investigating and recommending re-investment strategies to the Director, Funding. Work with Delivery partners, as applicable to execute re-investment strategies

  • Recommend bulk insurance allocations to Director, Funding and negotiate all related contracts

  • Work proactively with Treasury’s Mid/Back Office team to ensure that the credit union is aligned with regulatory guidance pertaining to securitization

  • Provide input into the annual Planning process and all forecasts and projections around wholesale funding strategy and all costs associated with existing funding sources

  • Support the annual credit facility renewal  process Provide a recommendation to the Director, Funding with respect to the term and pricing of each credit facility

  • Manage existing funding programs for Meridian subsidiaries and support renewal negotiations

  • Support the maintenance of rating agency relationships for Meridian and its subsidiaries, help shape the rating agency strategy along with preparation of rating agency decks. Develop close and effective working relationships with other financial institutions and credit unions to ensure the credit union is managing existing funding sources effectively

  • Recommend an external capital generation plan to Director, Funding and VP, Treasury

    Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • At least 5 years of relevant Treasury experience within the financial services industry

  • Competencies in capital planning and development of a capital framework

  • Superior knowledge of securitization, capital and money markets

  • Advanced financial modeling skills

  • Strong understanding of the NHA-MBS program; including residential mortgages and multi-unit residential mortgages

  • Understanding of the types of products offered by financial institutions

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with varied audiences and needs

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent ability to operate effectively in an entrepreneurial environment – ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and demonstrate a nimble approach

  • Database modelling experience is an asset

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics or related field. A Master’s degree in business and/or a Professional accounting certification is preferred
