Compensation: $70000.00 to $80000.00 yearly

Our client in the property management industry is looking to hire a Senior Accountant to join their team. As the Senior Accountant you will be responsible for:

Property Accounting Component:

- Responsible for the full cycle day-to-day accounting which includes recording transactions, accruals, reviewing accounts payable, completion of bank reconciliations, HST returns, and reconciliations of inter-company transactions and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare CAM and Tax recoveries and reconciliations for properties.
- Prepare monthly cash flow projections and cash distributions.
- Review and generate monthly billings for tenants.
- Liaise with property management, leasing and other departments pertaining to daily operations.
- Oversee lease setup and create recovery models for newly acquired properties.
- Month-end close procedures, including the preparation of monthly financial statements and financial reports, as well as monthly variance analysis and discussion to support budget overages and margin erosions for assigned properties.
- Work with property management and other parties to prepare annual budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with year-end audit processes through the preparation of audit working papers.

Corporate Accounting Component:

- Working closely with the Manager of Financial Reporting, Controller and the Operations team
- Maintaining and monitoring of GL data for completeness, accuracy and compliance with IFRS (includes processing invoices, journal entries, adjusting entries and intercompany entries on a day-to-day basis)
- Collaborating with the corporate and property accounting groups to ensure the integrity and consistency of accounting records
- Preparing and maintaining of reconciliations (e.g. bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, intercompany account reconciliations and continuity schedules)
- Supporting cash management and treasury requirements (includes monitoring and managing corporate cash flows)
- Assist with year-end audit processes through the preparation of audit working papers.
- Preparing and filing T2 corporate tax returns, GST/HST and QST tax returns and other regulatory reports and return
- Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
- Suggesting and implementing efficient procedures within the role
- Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements
We are looking for a professionally designated accountant with 3-5 years of accounting experience. The candidate should have strong Excel skills as well as be detail oriented by nature. The candidate should have strong communication skills in both oral and written form. The candidate should be proactive, have the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines. Experience with intercompany transactions, Yardi Accounting software and some property accounting experience would be preferred.
