General Manager - Machining
Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

1. P&L Responsibility for Site.

2. Responsible for the functions of Site (a decentralized role). Including, but not limited to; Manufacturing, warehousing and some customer service.

3. Provide leadership, direction and support to manufacturing and operational staff.

4. Ensure daily Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost deliverables are met.

5. Ensure adherence to ERP/WMS (warehouse management system) procedures.

6. Liaise with support departments as required (i.e. IT, Maintenance, Engineering, QA).

7. Ensure attendance policies are adhered to.

8. Address employee concerns immediately (i.e. When in doubt, ask your manager.)

9. Perform semi-annual performance reviews with staff.

10. Make decisions with regards to manufacturing, scheduling and manpower allocation.

11. Adjust manpower allocation to accommodate schedule.

12. Ensure payroll hours are accurate and up to date.

13. Support operators; vis a vis technical and operational matters. Obtain corporate resources as required (i.e. Engineering, QA, Maintenance, Finance etc.)

14. Report weekly metrics to the Director of Manufacturing.

15. Ensure all 5S (good housekeeping) policies/processes are adhered to.

Job Requirements

Candidate Requirements Employee core competencies:

Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Experience in Machining or Leadership in a Machining environment.

Interpersonal/leadership skills Sound computer skills

Experience with an ERP system would be an asset

Education: College Diploma/University Degree Management:

Site Staff reports to this role; 3 years previous supervisor experience

Experience and required skills: 3-5 years leadership experience within a manufacturing environment Machining process experience a must.
