Project Manager
Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

Responsible for hands-on leading (initiating, planning and executing) of the organization’s cross-functional business projects against the triple constraint to achieve the business benefits. Focused on quality and risk management and bringing transparency to the Executive Leadership Team to support extraordinary project execution. 

Adhering to the Project Management methodology and principles through all phases of the project and contributing to ongoing and continuous improvement across the Enterprise Project Management Office processes and approach.  Accountable to manage projects through the full lifecycle, communicate project progress, escalation notification as required, and manage project teams with representation from across the enterprise including but, not only, Technology teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct project management phases using PMP principles and adhering to the EPMOs methodology to manage the triple constraint
  • Accountable to ensure business benefits are identified, tracked, and protected
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
  • Identify and manage project dependencies, milestones, deliverables, and critical path
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, enact formal change controls as required, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans
  • Communicate progress of projects to EPMO Director, Executives, steering committees, project team and appropriately adjust the messages and details for the audiences
  • Act as liaison between the Executive Accountable and user community project teams
  • Draft and submit budget proposals, recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary, and track budget actual and forecasts
  • Manage vendor relationships as related to project delivery
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Post-secondary Education in a related field, plus 2-3 years of project management experience
  • PMP certification is desirable but not required
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Exceptional relationship and communication skills and the ability to make decisions, recommendations and manage difficult situations where influencing and persuasion is required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated expertise with MS Project and strong aptitude for Excel, Word, and Visio
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Hands-on, pragmatic and results-oriented
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
  • Flexible, creative, with the ability to plan, and drive results through others
