Design Group Staffing Vancouver is recruiting for a Project Manager / Estimator - Shoring.  Our client, and excavating and shoring civil contractor in Vancouver is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator - Shoring to join their team. They are anticipating a high volume of projects this year and beyond, and as such will be looking for the right individual to join this established Civil Contractor for a long-term opportunity.

 

Accountabilities:

The successful Project Manager / Estimator - Civil will be responsible for preparing, coordinating RFPs and cost estimates for challenging projects.  You will act as a liaison to clients, subcontractors and vendors; reviewing and submitting tenders. You will negotiate with developers and be able to reprice scope the way the client wants it.  Manage the project from startup to completion.

 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

        
  • Reviewing project specifications and drawings, attending pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of the work required
  •     
  • Working independently or with an estimate team to prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and establish a cost-effective solution for project bids.
  •     
  • Maintaining communications with client, adjusting as necessary to comply with Client needs within contractual obligations, or adjust project deliverables to meet client and business needs
  •     
  • Preparing and submitting budget estimates and progress & cost tracking reports
  •     
  • Performing Risk and Contract Management responsibilities when required
  •     
  • Provide ongoing mentoring to junior estimators and coordinators
Requirements:

        
  • Minimum of 5 years estimating and cost control related experience in heavy civil construction and in project management running project from startup to completion
  •     
  • Well versed in contractual agreements and risk assessment
  •     
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, quantity surveying or construction management
  •     
  • Experience with shotcrete shoring and/or soil anchoring is preferred
  •     
  • Technical knowledge and experience bidding unit price & design-build and PPP projects
  •     
  • Experience in the construction of civil infrastructure projects
  •     
  • Strong knowledge of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Hard Dollar, B2W are strongly desired
The individual chosen for this role will be highly creative, professional, hardworking, achievement focused, analytical and organized.  Strong attention to detail, planning and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.  Driver’s license is required.  All candidates must be able to work in Canada.
