Our client in Toronto is seeking a Project Engineer to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering paired with experience with material handling equipment in a fast-paced environment. The role responsibilities include 30-40% time travelling to client sites, within Canada and internationally. 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and meet budget for each project
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reports are submitted monthly, and where necessary make adjustments to resources and schedule to keep costs within budget
  • Ensure both monthly claims to the client and payments from the client are made in accordance with the time frames detailed in the contract.
  • Regularly monitor project performance against a detailed project plan and keep Project manager informed of timelines
  • Oversee management of the operational and resource requirements for the project including the timely ordering of onsite product, material and other resources required
  • Identify changes and present contract variations to the client
  • Prepare reports as required by the COO or Project manager
  • Communicate effectively with consultants, subcontractors and Suppliers
  • Appropriately select subcontractors, vendors and suppliers without compromising project quality and safety requirements
  • Manage the terms and conditions of contracts including clarifications and exclusions, and authorise approved payments
  • Attend regular meetings with all relevant contractors and consultants and provide project progress reports
Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience working on-site in a project environment with management capability
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering preferred, Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering may be considered
  • Sound working knowledge of contractual and commercial issues, financial management and reporting and project scheduling and planning
  • Willing to travel 30-40% to client locations
