Plans and prepares production schedules for the manufacturing of Production components by performing the following duties.  The position spends 100% of the time in a Planning role.

This position is a self-starting position with NO direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develops and maintain schedule in Daily/Weekly increments to establish sequence and lead time  based on takt times of each operation to meet due dates as per requirement to meet client on time in full target. 
  • Analyzes quoted operations data and compares to departmental operations capacity data, and performs mathematical calculations to achieve labor needs for the total business requirements based on the Department Manager’s direction. 
  • Assists in daily/weekly production meetings with Production Department Leadership Team. 
  • Provides production schedule to the team to initiate planning activities. 
  • Accountable to follow all policies and procedures defined in the company quality systems. 
  • Analyzes daily / weekly capacity and capability schedule and seeks pre approval from Production Control Manager for work to be outsourced based on findings. 
  • Support purchasing to arrange transportation of material (including yield), sample, files and drawings to the vendor. 
  • Creates a schedule of all sub-contracted work and has daily communication with purchasing to ensure delivery dates are maintained. 
  • Enters the calculated time (Takt Time) for each operation on to the component list, based on the estimated quoted hours by operation. 
  • Compares (BOM) requested operations to estimated quote to ensure there is no overlap or missed operations. 
  • Maintains and provides accurate information for department KPI’s in a timely fashion. 
  • Confers with department Leaders to determine status of assigned projects. Reviews KPIs status with the team during daily / weekly meeting. 
  • Ensures and initiates action with Section Manager and Department Manager to mitigate issues related to quality and productivity that could affect time delivery of a production job. 
  • Coordinates and Plans with Team when changes need to occur on the schedule. 
  • Track schedule attainment and reports root causes for any deviation including recovery plan. 
  • Analyze and provide information about any productivity/efficiency deviation. 
  • Prepares production reports.
  • Check stock levels and order materials for the department if applicable.

Education and/or Experience                                                   

  • Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills                                                

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                     

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  A
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability                                             

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Computer Skills                                               

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Access and internal custom programs Database software and Industrios ERP would be an asset; Internet Explorer & MS Project; Advanced MS Excel and MS Word.
