Who we need

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is an opportunity to apply your love of complex production environments to a space where every project is customized. The Production Manager manages the day-to-day production operations by following plant policies, procedures, and processes. We are seeking an individual who’s engaging and relatable, is a technical manufacturing expert, and has the ability to lead, coach, and guide a team.

The new Production Manager will:

  • Execute production. You will establish standard work procedures and task matrices; scheduling team members and equipment to meet all deadlines on-time and on-budget. You will make recommendations for labour requirements based on forecasted and scheduled demand. You will monitor equipment to ensure optimal performance and will work with supporting departments and vendors/contractors to ensure equipment availability.
  • Collaborate with leadership. You will develop and implement strategic, operational goals and objectives for the department to ensure client satisfaction, quality, and OTIF (On Time In Full) target achievement. You will work with Schedulers and Planners to successfully meet OTIF.
  • Drive continuous improvement. You will analyze and identify opportunities to reduce process variation, improve process capabilities, and optimize process performance to meet or exceed quoted productivity targets. You will lead and drive a continuous improvement mindset, engaging and challenging the team for optimization suggestions, including improved production, productivity, and quality performance.
  • Ensure optimal performance. You will monitor equipment to ensure optimal performance and initiate appropriate action with supporting departments and vendors/contractors to ensure equipment availability and optimized performance.
  • Lead a team. You will mentor and train teammates; delivering useful performance reviews that accelerate professional growth. You will ensure the team is up-to-date and committed to following health and safety regulations. You will establish and enforce standards and procedures in compliance with legal regulations and will work with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to implement improvement initiatives.

The new Production Manager has:

  • The experience. You have 7+ years of operations leadership experience, preferably in a Lean manufacturing environment. You have a clear understanding of core manufacturing principles, including metrics management, capacity planning, financial budgeting, labour planning, scheduling, material flow/inventory management, lead time, and waste reduction. You are familiar with Ontario Health & Safety regulations.
  • The leadership. You have the confidence to draw on your expertise and make well thought out decisions. You can communicate with your labourers, peers, supervisors, and other teams. You can influence and motivate a team, and you have a proven track record of leading teams toward the achievement of KPIs. You can mentor and build leaders within your team, 
  • The flexibility. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment with high complexity. You can adapt to work the occasional night shift during peak production times.
