Production Manager

Working on the day shift, you will be responsible for making sure that production runs effortlessly with a focus on production safety without sacrificing high quality.  The right candidate will bring balance to all aspects of the role, including staff scheduling, proper utilization of equipment, and maximization of output.

*** Please note that food manufacturing is entirely different from standard manufacturing.  As such, only candidates who have food experience will be considered.


  • Through mentorship, lead and develop production team
  • Consistent observance to GMP’s and food quality through continuous monitoring of all items produced as per customer requirements
  • Ensuring work environment is safe and that all staff work in a safe manner
  • With a strong focus on yield management, maintain consistent workflow through close supervision of process, staff, and maximizing equipment operation
  • Take note of ways to reduce costs and implement process changes as required
  • Constantly striving to find new and efficient processes or process improvements
  • Ensure proper inventory management of prepared food
  • Be a part of and contribute to recipe and product testing through R&D
  • Through scheduling and revisions of the production plan as needed, assigning personnel to, and monitoring of production process
  • Providing goals and leading by example, give guidance and support for your direct reports by providing development opportunities through empowerment and direct assignments, followed by continual feedback on a regular basis
  • Continual compliance with not only company safety policies, but also the OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) and JHSC (Joint Health and Safety Committee)
  • Coordination of schedule with Production Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure maximum efficiency of each shift
  • Administration of each staff member’s time/attendance, inclusive of vacation requests
  • Facilitate health and safety inquiries as necessary

Job Requirements


  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) are a must!
  • Proven ability to motivate, lead, and coach employee’s
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience within a medium to large food production facility
  • Post-secondary education or related experience
  • Comprehension of Lean Manufacturing
  • Utilizing critical thinking and problem solving, have a strong ability to independently complete project work in order to meet deadlines
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Complete knowledge of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act – OHSA


  • Understanding of Six Sigma methodology
  • Previous experience in a HACCP facility
  • ERP system exposure
