Design Group is hiring a PLC Technician for the night shift (10pm-6am) for our client, an OEM automotive parts manufacturing facility near the Toronto airport.  This person will be tasked repair and troubleshoot equipment and machinery efficiently, as well as design electrical circuits and PLC programs (Allen Bradley and Siemens) for machines.


•Establish and follow-up full project implementation including timing, concept, feasibility, design, specifications, construction and commissioning

•Maintain and upgrade PLC software: assist in training of staff on electronic equipment

•Analyse, record and chart documentation required for maintenance records and projects

•Service, maintain, repair, install and test new or existing equipment and verifies conformance to specifications

•Complete repairs, modifications and installations as required

•Troubleshoot of process problems and complete quality improvements

•Deal with vendors (both parts suppliers and equipment suppliers)

•Department support for testing, repairing and calibrating electric or electronic components

•Plant support in troubleshooting / repairs and systems improvements (optimization)

•Carries out preventative maintenance procedures

•Prepares drawings, materials specifications to requisition for vendors or internal departments



•College diploma in industrial/electrical controls

•3 years experience with electronic control systems in a robotic welding or laser field or on CNC machine tools

•Able to work in various locations within and outside the plant

•Able to work extended or flexible hours/shifts as required

•Proven of record of PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens) or CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens)

•Lean Manufacturing and 5S concepts awareness and adherence

•Able to understand and CSA-462 and/or NEMA 70-E
