The Plant Manager is responsible to manage and direct all aspects of precast production operations inside the plant at the Brampton facility.


  • This role ensures proper execution and scheduling of daily production as well as effective use of labour and related expenses.

  • Works with the team to ensure the highest quality output is met while working in a safe environment.

  • Provides leadership and management of an engaged workforce.

  • Accountable for enforcing the Health & Safety practices and leading Continuous Improvement initiatives.

  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations as well as, the Company Health and Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities.

  • Ensure training, communication, and initiatives are effectively communicated to plant employees. Evaluates and acts on recommendations from JHSC.

  • Management and optimization of overall production process, producing quality precast meeting CPCI/CSA standards in accordance with project specification and contract schedule.

  • Create and maintain a safe plant environment with tools, machinery and equipment in good working order.

  • Production material, labour and overhead costs within budgeted amounts.

  • Support Production Supervisors in resolution of issues related to safety, quality, production priorities, material and man-hour allocations to meet designated targets and KPI’s.

  • Liaise closely with the Quality department and conduct regular inspection of the work in progress for finished goods to ensure compliance with project requirements.

  • Manage manpower requirements in consultation with Production Supervisors in order to maximize usage and minimize disruption to the labour force while meeting contractual obligations.

  • Identify and recommend physical and/or process changes as needed to ensure the most productive and efficient means to meet both financial and production deadlines.

  • Utilize lean management principles to review and analyze actual production processes in comparison to initial production plan/budget to recommend changes for future bids & projects.

  • Be conversant with the current wording and interpretation of the collective agreement to enable clear and consistent direction to be given.

  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.

  • 8+ years experience of Plant management in a construction manufacturing environment.

  • Previous experience successfully managing in a unionized/labour environment.

  • Solid understanding of technical drawings and architectural design.

  • Results-oriented - 'get it done' attitude.

  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple production projects at the same time.

  • Effective communication skills (written & verbal) with ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way.

  • Standard office computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) etc.

  • Basic knowledge or awareness of Lean manufacturing concepts


  • Degree/Diploma in Civil/Structural engineering or related field.

  • Experience in pre-cast concrete production - knowledge of concrete sandwich panels, architectural concrete, concrete construction

  • CPCI/PCI/ACI certification
