Plant Accountant
Job Description

Our client a leader in the Wood Industry is looking to add a Plant Accountant to their team. This role is for a minimum of 1-year contract with the definite potential to be extended or made permanent. The opportunity is in the Guelph area. The position reports to the Controller.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all Financial Reporting for the Branch location, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliation of the GL and sub -ledger accounts
  • Responsible for analysis of P&L and Balance Sheets identifying variances
  • Actively participate in the annual budget and forecasting processes
  • Be the ‘go to’ person to assist with audit preparation for internal and external audits
  • Responsible for inventory reconciliations and any required adjustments
  • Set up and maintain inventory sku’s in ERP system
  • Actively participate in coordination and execution of scheduled physical inventory counts
  • Ensure all transactions posted to the system for accuracy and compliance to GAAP
  • Act as SME for all other departments regarding any questions or issues related to accounting
  • Provide back-up coverage for all other areas of the accounting team as needed





Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BA in Accounting and Finance
  • CPA designation and asset
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills
  • Advanced computer skills -MS Office, Accounting ERP software
