Who we need

We have a newly created role in Kitchener for a people-focused, highly organized, analytical, change agent: an Operations Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to be the right-hand to the Regional Manager, creating a best in class operation as a foundation for growth. You will review, develop and implement processes that enhance our client experience, improve operational efficiencies and increase revenue. You will lead all aspects of the operation including in-shop and field service, assembly, warehouse and facility management. You are comfortable coaching a diverse team of passionate and skilled service technicians, builders, warehouse associates and coordinators while fostering a culture of collaboration and efficiency.

What you will do:

  • Act as an ambassador by professionally representing the Motion Brand. You will:
    • Build relationships to ensure the highest level of client service.
    • Maintain vendor and supplier relations, ensuring fulfillment of obligations and working together to create a competitive advantage.
  • Anticipate opportunities to exceed both external and internal client expectations. You will:
    • Analyze all available data and reports to quickly formulate and execute an action plan.
    • Manage operational budgets and own a large share of the P&L.
    • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures conferring with other team members as appropriate.
    • Set and maintain high operational standards, introducing process improvements.
    • Implement warehousing standards and best practices to control inventory within acceptable limits.
  • Lead, coach, and staff the warehouse and service teams. You will:
    • Provide end-to-end HR support including recruiting and hiring of new staff, training, coaching, and performance management.
    • Influence and motivate to achieve peak productivity.
    • Assist in the forecasting staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies.
    • Supervise daily transactions; manage escalations and implement corrective actions.
    • Roll up your sleeves and pitch in where needed.
    • Manage the service team and related activities including in-shop service, field service, light assembly, and related administration.
    • Enforce and advocate for workplace health and safety.

What you bring:

  • Education and experience. You have a degree or diploma from a post-secondary institution and 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a retail or branch environment leading up to management. You have experience working with a remote workforce.
  • A collaborative management style. You know how to motivate and inspire a team and how to run an efficient operation. You have experience coordinating or managing all facets of a client-facing service-oriented branch administration, finance, HR, service, and operations.
  • Communication. You have experience working in client-facing roles and leading teams. You love building and fostering relationships with internal and external clients. You have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and can explain your ideas and thoughts in a variety of ways to get your point across.
  • Flexibility and organization. You are an expert at juggling multiple projects, stakeholders and deadlines all while keeping your cool. You can prioritize, manage and organize myriad tasks as they come up throughout the day, be it from clients or other team members. You can quickly change your course of action to address changing needs and requirements while still meeting deadlines.
  • Technical Skills. You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and are comfortable working on a computer, navigating various software and databases. Experience with Navision or other enterprise software would be considered an asset.
  • Additional must-have requirements. You have a clean criminal background check and are bondable.
