Operations Efficiency and Project Specialist - 15 Month Contract
Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

As part of the Operations Projects and Transformation team, the Efficiency and Project Specialist will play a role in identifying, assessing and executing process improvements that increase the efficiency and capabilities of our Delivery partners and enhance the Member and employee experience at Meridian.  The incumbent will work on a variety of projects that are both tactical and strategic in nature with a goal of reengineering key Member and operational processes to increase quality, value, and to demonstrate the Operations vision of being a Centre of Excellence.  Additionally, this position is accountable to create and execute training solutions for key systems and applications deemed necessary as part of project requirements.  As well, the individual will be responsible to manage the implementation of process changes through effective communication, change management plans, education and training to the Operations  teams demonstrating our commitment to enhancing delivery capabilities with highly reliable processes and exceptional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive support as a contributing partner on various Corporate and Operations initiatives and projects
  • Actively participate in projects and take accountability for researching, analyzing and providing input on business and system improvements
  • Review proposed requirements and project team outputs to ensure business needs are captured appropriately
  • Work closely with all Operations’ teams to evaluate scope of specific projects, product costs and effort estimates
  • Provide input and guidance and/or create and execute training solutions for key systems and applications deemed necessary as part of project requirements
  • Facilitate and/or participate in impact assessment sessions from analyzing, interviewing, process mapping, gap analysis, developing solutions and recommendations and execute on defined deliverables
  • Utilize Lean tools and methodologies within daily activities demonstrating an ability to question ‘what is’ in an effort to achieve the most efficient outcomes possible
  • Complete post implementation reviews of projects  to monitor and collect feedback to ensure process optimization
  • Manage the implementation of process changes through effective communication, change management plans, education and training to all Operations’ teams
  • Provide management with status updates, feedback and appropriate reporting on projects and process review implementations
  • Establish effective and collaborative working relationships with team members, stakeholders, business partners and 3rd party vendors

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Financial Services Industry
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within Meridian environments with strong working knowledge of:  Ovation, ACE, WelcoMe, IntelliLender
  • Knowledge of Meridian’s business, products, and processes, as well as factors affecting the business
  • Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact and build effective relationships
  • Organized with the ability to quickly prioritize and effectively handle critical issues or competing priorities; move with agility from one task to another
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence others and negotiate effectively
  • Effective communication, facilitation and presentation skills; capable of explaining and documenting simple procedures in writing (PowerPoint) or verbally
  • Conflict and issue resolution and escalation
  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office, Visio
  • Position may require occasional travel throughout the province to meet with Delivery partners
