Design Group Staffing Vancouver is recruiting for a Mechanical Technologist / Technician.  Our client, a leading engineering firm in the Fraser Valley is looking to add a Mechanical Technologist / Technician to their team. As a qualified Technologist / Technician, you will work closely with the Team Lead/Project Manager, assisting on various engineering tasks and contributing to the technical competence and production requirements of the discipline.  You will also provide exceptional customer service and coordination assistance with internal and external project partners (consultants, contractors, etc.).


The Mechanical Technologist / Technician responsibilities include but not limited to:   

  • Writing various engineering reports    
  • Coordinating with disciplines    
  • Working knowledge of national and local building codes    
  • Preparing or assisting in preparation of fee proposals.    
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior staff    
  • Preparing technical designs for: HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Suppression, Equipment selections and specifications, and Energy analysis    
  • Drafting, reviewing and mark-up iterations using AutoCAD and Revit MEP    
  • Effectively resolving mechanical conflicts with contractors during construction phase.    
  • Resolving technical issues and cost implications    
  • Conducting regular construction administration tasks such as site reviews and write site review/site instruction/change order reports    
  • Abiding by company and client safety policies and practices

The Mechanical Technologist / Technician must have:    

  • Diploma in Mechanical Technology Program.    
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Buildings Engineering    
  • Registered with AScT or have C.E.T. designation    
  • Experience using WEC systems and programs (including Gnosis, Vision, Career Path, MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit MEP)    
  • Working knowledge of Project Management such as scope, schedule and budget and ability to accurately apply codes and regulations.
The individual chosen for this role will be highly creative, professional, hardworking, achievement focused, analytical and organized.  Strong attention to detail, planning and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.  All candidates must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship.
