Manager, IS&T Network Infrastructure

On behalf of our dynamic high-tech client, Procom Consultants Group is currently looking for a Manager, IS&T Network Infrastructure. A well-known global natural resource company.

The Manager is accountable for all communication-related systems and services: ensuring high-availability of Client’s network, voice and video conferencing infrastructure, managing our 3rd party vendors to their contracted SLAs, validating that Client’s network redundancies are tested and effective.  As this requires the involvement of multiple teams both internal and external to Client, the ability to maintain good working relationships with our vendors and auxiliary teams is paramount.  It is imperative that any deficiencies be flagged, communicated and addressed quickly.

Due to the specialized nature of the technologies used for network, voice and video communications, the team members reporting into the Manager are very senior and/or very specialized.  As such, the Manager must rely on extensive experience, judgment and credibility to plan and accomplish goals.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. 

Manager, IS&T Network Infrastructure Job Details

  • Ensure Client’s network infrastructure is 99.9% available. Measured through monthly KPI’s
  • Build and lead a high-performing and highly motivated team
  • Maintain excellent relationships with teams supporting Client’s business
  • Provide clarity in the face of ambiguity
  • Aggressively remove barriers preventing team members from completing critical work
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to emerging team members; ensure succession plans are current
  • Continually assess and advocate for standardization where feasible
  • Manage the overall request and ticket queues for team; ensures break/fix work is completed
  • Maintain tight inventory on network, voice and video conferencing assets; measure against the capacity constraints and proactively address concerns before they create outages
  • Work with team to develop future year capital plans that compliment capacity consumption trends and latest industry trends
  • Work closely with project managers and senior team members to build accurate and creative project plans that address key business needs
  • Build and manage an operational budget within +/-5% accuracy
  • Compile and present relevant monthly key performance indicators that both accurately depict important attributes of the environment, but also incentivize the team members to improve on in a manner that is beneficial to Client
  • Provide leadership and direction for data network devices and components, including:
    • Cisco routers, switches and voice gateways
    • QoS, dynamic routing protocols, network security, firewalls/ACL’s, DMZ
    • IP addressing, network segregation, load balancing
    • Cabling, wireless, WAN and WAN optimization / compression
    • Network Access
  • Provide leadership and direction for voice systems, including:
    • Cisco UCM and dial plan configurations
    • Ancillary voice / video hardware and tools (e.g. headsets / webcams / IP speakers, solution monitoring tools etc.)
    • Integration with Singlewire Informacast broadcast messaging
    • Integration with Microsoft Skype\Teams and Exchange UM
  • Provide leadership and direction for video conferencing systems, including:
    • Cisco Telepresence Management System (TMS)
    • Cisco Video Communication Server (VCS)
    • Polycom, Cisco and Microsoft (Skype\Teams) video end points
    • Cisco UCCX (contact centre)
    • Integration with Microsoft Skype\Teams video
  • Ensure the 1, 3 and 5 year network strategic directions are built and reviewed annually

Manager, IS&T Network Infrastructure Mandatory Skills

  • 10+ years managing a dynamic technical team in a large complex corporate environment
  • 5+ years managing large third-party vendors
  • Proven leadership capabilities; credible and well respected
  • Ability to effortlessly communicate at both a technical and business level
  • Strong understanding of IP networking, VoIP and Video (teleconferencing)
  • Meticulous with a propensity for pragmatism; strives to get the job done right
  • Strong technical, analytic and problem solving abilities
  • Experience interfacing with senior and C level executives
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Spanish language skills considered an asset

Certifications / Training:

  • Relevant university degree or equivalent experience
  • CCNA / CCNP (recommended)
  • Cisco Call Manager / CUCM certifications (recommended)
  • Microsoft Certifications (recommended)
  • Cisco / Polycom / Zoom Video Certifications (recommended)
