Design Group is currently recruiting for an In-shop Diesel Mechanic in the Burlington area.  This role is with one of the largest manufacturers of construction machinery in the world.  They are looking for an experienced mechanic to join their team and work specifically in the shop and assist will all diesel engine repair, teardowns and re-builds.  This candidate must have previous experience working with Diesel Engines in order to be considered.  This role would be a straight day shift, Monday to Friday and opportunity for overtime.  The wage for this role will depend on experience but will be between $34 to $36/hr.  This role is permanent position with great potential as a career opportunity!

Responsibilities

•Tear down, stripping, reconditioning/repairing/assembling of diesel engines hydraulic pumps and motors, gear boxes, transmissions and hydraulic cylinders as assigned

•Dynamometer testing of engines

•Failure analysis of core engines

•Testing and measuring of parts

•Ensure components, material and/or equipment is inspected, is corrected to specifications and ensure timely delivery programs are achieved

•Document technical data and up-to-date status reports of all assigned jobs including maintaining accurate working records for labour and time sheets

 

Requirements

•Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate or completed study as a part of an apprenticeship program in related program

•5 years’ work experience repairing construction equipment, hydraulics and/or Diesel engines required

•Previous work experience in an assembly environment is considered an asset

•Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

•Good working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems is an asset

•Experience with computers and electronic reporting and using Microsoft products

•Being a dynamic team player with a positive attitude, and the ability to work with minimal supervision is a must

•Sense of urgency and demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction

•Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety

•Clear and precise written and verbal English communication skills are essential

•Valid driver’s license with a willingness to travel occasionally for business and training purposes
