Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

Meridian is launching a new design concept with four unique zones of engagement where Members or Guests are introduced, educated, acquired and/or referred to another location or individual with a specialized expertise. The Meridian Bramalea City Centre location is an innovative branch where banking feels good by leveraging high touch interactions in concert with technology. This requires careful balance to create a warm and inviting space where Guests can take a break from shopping, bank, learn, engage with the community and grab a cup of coffee.

As a member of the Branch Team, the primary accountabilities of this position are to act as brand Ambassadors, by welcoming, engaging, interacting and emotionally connecting with Members/Guests visiting the Branch. The incumbent is expected to educate, provide insight and information on Meridian including the full array of differentiated products and services offering, and elicit interest by effectively leveraging technology to support acquisition and/or quality referrals. This role is expected to lead the Team to proactively follow-up with Members/Guests referred to colleagues/partners and those attending Activation Events, Financial Literacy and Community Sessions.

In addition this role will be responsible for meeting and exceeding specific individual goals and contributing towards team based business results.  This role is expected to proactively follow-up with Members/Prospects referred to colleagues and OMNI channel along with those attending Activation Events, Financial Literacy and Community Sessions.

The incumbent must have a passion for creating exemplary experiences and always acting within the best interests of the Member/Guest.  It is essential that Meridian maintains its tradition of delivering Best in Class (Member 2.0 Experience) experiences and results. Key Responsibilities:

  • A strong Team player

  • Welcome and engage Members and Guests visiting the Branch.Assists, and supports flow of experience throughout the unique Branch Zones and contributes to acquisitions and referrals.

  • Acts as a Digital Ambassador to educate and promote Meridian’s Digital Banking.

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of the full array of Meridian’s differentiated product and service offering to educate, provide insight and information during interactions, and elicit interest by effectively leveraging technology to support quality referrals to colleagues within the Branch and OMNI Channel accordingly based on determined financial needs and preferences.

  • Effectively promotes and leverages OMNI Channel to facilitate experiences and fulfillment of business activities.

  • Within approval limits approve or provide recommendations on large and complex credit products such as mortgages, loans, lines of credit, and credit cards based on thorough, accurate and appropriate credit interviewing and underwriting skills

  • Provide investment advice by identifying and promoting Meridian investment offerings and wealth solutions that fit and meet our Members needs

  • Holds Mutual fund accreditation and or maintains a thorough knowledge of economic and market conditions

  • Actively lead revenue generation and sales based activities in order to achieve performance targets

  • Build external centres of influence to optimize sales and service results

  • Use Meridian tools to proactively identify and promote opportunities with all Members to deepen relationships and provide seamless service experiences

  • Identify and drive quality referrals to appropriate partners in Retail Wealth and Business Banking

  • Through sales excellence earn the right to ask for business and drive new referrals

  • Proactively positions on-going contact with Members/Prospects within the Branch and the OMNI Channel.

  • Builds pipeline by proactively following-up with Members/Prospects participating in Activation Events, Financial Literacy and Community Sessions.

  • Contributes to the success of Education Sessions by proactively contacting identified participates to provide friendly reminder/RSVP for upcoming Events.

  • Resolve problems at first point of contact where possible and refer more complex Member concerns to Branch Manager.

  • Assists Members using ATM. Balances and processes daily work in accordance to standard compliance, audit, policies and procedures

  • Consistently and effectively leverages Social Media to grow awareness of brand and value proposition.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Post-secondary education at least 3 years of equivalent work experience in a financial services sales environment with a proven track record in sales

  • Multilingualism an asset; specifically, Hindi, Punjabi and Filipino

  • Must hold a mutual fund accreditation

  • Strong business acumen and financial industry knowledge

  • Passion for delivering Member 2.0 Experiences and relationships to achieve sales and referral objectives

  • Excellent organizational and Member service skills

  • Strong inter-personal skills with a high level of energy along with a results driven attitude in a growth cycle business environment.

  • Tech Savvy. Developed computer literacy sufficient to use Meridian applications and desktop tools (i.e. ACE, Mnet, ENCORE, and Lending) along with other external applications.

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours including some Statutory Holidays will be required to support Branch Hours of Service along with networking and community involvement.
