Purpose of the Job:

As a member of the branch sales and service team, the primary responsibilities for this position will be to understand the financial needs of our Members and provide the appropriate advice and recommendations.  This will include completing front line transactional services to support our Members day to day banking, as well as an opportunity to grow by fulfilling part time advisory sales role such as opening new accounts, offering credit, deposit, identifying opportunities for wealth referrals, as well as proactively identifying and promoting opportunities for other Meridian products and services.

In addition this role will be responsible for meeting and exceeding specific individual goals and contributing towards team based business results.  This role is expected to proactively engage in revenue generating and sales based activities, foster and deepen Member relationships and refer business to other channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strive to increase Member satisfaction through providing accurate, timely, welcoming and professional front line service.
  • Provide a superior Member experience through the identification and promotion of products and services. Where appropriate provide qualified referrals based on the needs identified through proactive probing to appropriate partners in retail, wealth, mobile,  small business and commercial
  • Post all transactions accurately, balance consistently and ensure proper due diligence when a discrepancy occurs. Take responsibility to ensure accuracy and completeness of all work.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality to respect Members privacy.
  • Promote Meridian Credit Union in your community by participating in and being involved in community activities or events while demonstrating the Company values
  • Engage in revenue generation and sales based activities in order to achieve performance objectives
  • Provide deposit advice by identifying and promoting Meridian investment offerings and solutions that fit and meet our Member needs
  • Within approval limits approve or provide recommendations on credit products based on thorough, accurate and appropriate credit interviewing and underwriting skills

  • Open new Member accounts using account opening strategies
  • Develop rapport with Members, identifying Member needs and expectations and align products and services based on the identification of those needs
  • Actively participate and support the team in the planning process, assisting with implementation and providing feedback
  • Be an effective team player working co-operatively with your peers within the branch and across Meridian including corporate office and other delivery partners
  • Resolve problems at first point of contact where possible and refer to more complex Member concerns to appropriate parties

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience in a financial services sales environment an asset
  • Strong business acumen and financial industry knowledge
  • Passion for sales and service
  • Excellent organizational and Member service skills
  • Strong technical skills
  • Strong desire for career growth within the financial services
  • Flexible to work all scheduled hours which may include evenings and weekends
