SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
If you're a self-starter who combines a real passion for analytics with great social skills, you might be interested in Robert Half Management Resources new Senior Accounting position. The Senior Accountant role is located in Calgary, Alberta and is a 5-7 month contract. The ideal candidate is a highly-skilled Sr Accountant looking to join a dynamic and fast-growing team in the IT Software field.

Our client is a publicly listed company and looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to assist their corporate accounting team with month ends & year end. As the Senior Financial Accountant you will report directly to the Controller and will be performing various financial accounting, variance analysis, larger complex account reconciliations, and assisting with various legal entity financial statement preparation.

The Senior financial accountant is responsible for:


• Working with a team of 3 senior accountants at the corporate accounting level, this role requires financial accounting under IFRS for multiple legal entities, preparation of typical month end and quarter end / year end accruals, reconciliations and month end close work for these related entities.


• These entities have many international components so you will likely be dealing with various foreign currencies so accuracy is key.


• There will be various account reconciliations & hands on accounting work.


• Preparation of various accruals for the entities


• Assist with month end close


• Financial Analysis - Perform variance analysis and some ad hoc internal reporting


• Ad hoc projects - the organization is growing and changing so there are lots of internal reporting requests or various projects to assist with.


• Over year end you'll be assisting with the Audit and providing support to the external auditors and their queries.

There is planned on-boarding and start up training to be provided and there is a well-documented calendar and timeline to assist with weekly and monthly requirements and deadlines. Most important to this controller is an Accountant who is open to cross training and learning and working collaboratively with the team to deliver team results!

How you will make an impact

- Deliver impromptu analytical support and perform special projects as needed

- Work alongside internal business partners in the preparation, implementation, and compliance of management reporting & analysis requirements

- Contribute to the annual operating plan, the monthly forecast, the monthly reporting and analysis, and the business planning process. Deliver and explain variance analysis
Job Requirements
Skills Required:


• Accounting designation CPA (CA/CMA/CGA/ACCA)


• 5+ years of progressive financial accounting under IFRS


• Strong proficiency preparing month end accruals


• Financial analysis & strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivots and lookups)


• Ideally experience with foreign currencies and / or foreign exchange


• Assisting or preparation of legal entities and notes under IFRS


• Navision or SAP systems experience preferred.

. Willingness to perform ad hoc analysis / reporting or assist with projects
