Job Introduction
Position: Financial Controller

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all finance matters in a managerial capacity with special emphasis on cost control for two Magna divisions
  • Prepare data for revenue and cost of sales recognition.
  • Develop and present business plans for corporate office.
  • Prepare financial results for audit (Financial, government, other).
  • Monitor compliance with business plan, company procedures, and policies, as well as other company objectives.
  • Calculate and monitor standard rates for quoting purposes.
  • Review and approve outgoing payments and payroll
  • Supervise application for capital expenditures, including financial justification.
  • Prepare and review all financial statements.
  • Analyze financial data as required.
  • Prepare reports for division and corporate offices, with special emphasis on attention directing.
  • Comply with taxation requirements.
  • Manage cash and Accounts Receivable collection.
  • Prepare all correspondence relating to the above.
  • Complete performance appraisals for department.
  • Foreign currency management and direction of hedging program for risk reduction.
  • Develop procedures and controls that link all departments on cost control.
  • Train key plant personnel on basic financial control.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required or assigned.
  • Responsible to carry out duties for Health, Safety, and Environment in accordance with the HS&E Agreement for Supervisor/Leadhand - Addendum



Knowledge and Education

  • University Degree with specialization in Accounting.
  • Professional Accounting designation and membership in good standing in Professional Accounting Association.



Work Experience

  • 10 - 15 years experience in Finance, with emphasis on job costing including using the percentage of completion method of accounting, preferably in the automotive industry, or alternatively for other large-project industries (construction or engineering).
  • 10 - 15 years experience to a multiple currency accounting environment
  • 10 - 15 years experience managing a staff of ten plus employees
  • Experience in a senior Divisional Finance role in a publicly-traded multinational.



Skills and Competencies

  • Must meet strict deadlines.
  • Advanced User of computer systems including MS Excel, word processing, and ERP systems (prefer Infor Visual Manufacturing System).
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, graphs).



Work Environment

  • Office environment.
  • Day Shift
  • Overtime Required





Job Requirements
