Why we need you - and why you want to be here.

In order to provide increased value to bank stakeholders and grow Sensibill into a FinTech powerhouse, we need a DevOps Engineer to get our ideas into their user’s hands as quickly as possible; someone with the initiative to research new approaches and the drive to stay at the top of their game. 

We want to reduce our cycle time, increase our defect removal effectiveness ratio, and eliminate as much manual testing and intervention in our delivery pipeline and platform infrastructure as possible - all those little things that add up to big delays and frustration. We want to increase efficiency and optimize scalability with our new in-development platform and API using a more modern approach, focusing on microservices architecture and containerization. We need a DevOps Engineer to guide the best delivery approach for a new build that will maximize flexibility and minimize risk. 

You want to be a teacher and a resource, working closely with the Engineering team to embed DevOps into our SDLC. You want an opportunity to expand your skillset as you lead by example, grow robust processes and introduce new tools and methods. A day in the life as the DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Evaluate, improve, and influence. You will collaborate with the Engineering organization to foster an environment where DevOps can happen, highlighting priorities and generating alignment of processes. You will work with the Platform Team to improve our infrastructure and leverage our skills with a focus on providing a consistent and reliable platform. You will identify sources of frustration and technical gaps; and, you will determine process-centric solutions using DevOps tools to facilitate our move to multiple releases a week (or day).
  • Create a strategy. You will help the Platform Team transition from Configuration Management to Infrastructure as Code. You will improve our CI/CD tooling through refactoring, extension, and implementation of new tools to support processes that make sense.
  • Build and measure. You will develop automation frameworks and functionality. You will generate and analyze data, helping us apply metrics to inform our day-to-day choices as well as our strategic path.

 As the new DevOps Engineer, you bring:

  • Experience. You have 3+ years hands-on experience delivering commercial software over multiple releases. You have successfully helped remove barriers to innovation and increase transparency across entire organizations. You understand how to build apps which work well in the constrained environment of a mobile device. 
  • Curiosity. You enjoy creating a hypothesis, researching outcomes, and conducting experiments with new tools and/or processes. You quickly learn new technologies and stay up to date on the latest best practices.
  • Agile expertise. You thrive in an Agile environment while remaining adaptable to Waterfall and hybrid methodologies required by enterprise customers. You have a strong understanding of TDD, Design Patterns, Inversion of Control, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Technical flexibility. You are proficient with NodeJS or another modern Javascript framework. You have hands-on experience with Git, CodeShip, Postman, Jenkins, Chef, or similar management tooling. You may have experience developing mobile apps for Android or iOS.
  • A willingness to share your passion. You are eager to explain what DevOps means to you in a way that inspires others and encourages collaboration. You are comfortable as a subject matter expert and can confidently work as part of a cross-functional Product team. You have exceptional communication skills and can mentor a team, sharing best practices and influencing work.

What does the interview process involve?

First, we'll focus on the human side of things and answer any questions you may have. From there, we’ll provide an opportunity for those that exhibit a high potential to be successful in our environment to demonstrate their technical capabilities and then talk shop with some of our engineers and leaders. Assuming you’re one of our finalists, we’ll be sure to give you a tour of the office and introduce you to some of your future teammates.
